Section 52
Power to issue bank notes and coins

(1) The Bank shall have the exclusive right to issue bank notes and coins within Nepal. Such notes and coins shall be legally accepted in Nepal. (2) According to sub-section (1), the bank shall issue notes only with security and the liability of such issued notes shall be equal to the value of the property held for security. At least 50% of the assets to be kept for safekeeping in one or more of gold, silver, foreign currency, foreign securities and foreign exchangeable warrants and the remaining percentage in coins (of stamp, double and higher rates), bonds issued by the Government of Nepal and repayment from banks. It will be kept in one or more of the promissory notes or bills of exchange that will be paid in Nepal within the given maximum of eighteen months. However, if approved by the Government of Nepal, at least 40 percent of the assets to be kept for protection will be in one or more of gold, silver, foreign currency, foreign securities and foreign exchangeable rights. And the remaining percentage of Nepalese coins (of stamp, double, and higher rates), bonds issued by the Government of Nepal and repayments from the bank can be kept in one or more of the promissory notes or promissory notes payable in Nepal within eighteen months.(3) For the purpose of sub-section (2), the valuation of property shall be done as follows:-(a) At the rate determined by the Government of Nepal on the recommendation of the Gold Price Committee. (b) At the rate deemed reasonable by the Silver Price Committee. (d) Bonds, foreign securities and convertible bonds issued by the Government of Nepal at the rate determined by the committee after looking at the market rate. (e) At face value. In this way, when issuing bank notes, the image, size and rate on the note will be subject to the approval of the Government of Nepal and the image not visible on the note, arrangements for internal security, materials for printing bank notes and other materials will be as decided by the committee.Bank notes of any denomination may be issued by publishing a notice and cause them not to circulate anywhere else except in a designated place or base. (6) The bank shall not re-issue torn, erased or falsified notes. , designs and metal or mixed metal coins can be brought into circulation for the sake of customs or on special occasions by collating coins. If the bank deems necessary, such coins can be minted in a foreign mint. However, if a coin that has been minted once, needs to be minted again, the approval of the Nepalese government is not required. (9) Before the establishment of the bank, the bank will be responsible for the payment of the notes issued by the government of Nepal and the bank notes issued by the bank. (10) No other obligations will be fulfilled from the assets in custody for the issuance of bank notes except for the obligations under sub-section (9).
